Texas residents will cast ballots in federal, state, and local races on November 3. Galveston County officials have confirmed that voters in the area are not restricted to a single precinct-specific site for this election. Instead, any resident of Galveston County may select any polling location within the county to vote.

The decision to allow county-wide voting access aligns with practices in many Texas jurisdictions. While some counties mandate that citizens vote at specific sites based on their precinct, Galveston County permits flexibility. The Secretary of State’s website provides a verification tool where voters can confirm their registration status, precinct, and eligible voting locations.

Voting in Galveston County will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Election Day. The county elections office and the Texas Secretary of State maintain lists of these facilities. Voters can access this data through the Secretary of State’s online portal or by contacting local election offices directly.

To participate in person, Texas law requires voters to present acceptable photo identification. Valid forms include a Texas driver license, an election identification certificate, a personal identification card, or a handgun license, all issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. A United States military identification card, a citizenship certificate with a photograph, or a U.S. passport also qualify as primary identification.

If a voter lacks a primary photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one, specific supporting documents are acceptable. These include a government-issued document showing name and address, a voter registration certificate, a current utility bill, a bank statement, a government check, a paycheck, or a certified birth certificate. For voters aged 18 to 69, any photo ID presented must be current or expired for no more than four years. Voters aged 70 and older may use a photo ID that has been expired for any length of time, provided the document remains valid in other respects.

The November 3 ballot includes multiple contests for federal, state, and local offices. Residents can review the specific races applicable to their county through the Secretary of State’s online resources. The elections office will manage the distribution of ballots and the administration of polling places throughout the day.

Voters who encounter issues or have questions regarding their registration or voting process may contact the Secretary of State’s toll-free hotline at 1-800-252-VOTE. A formal complaint can be filed by submitting a designated form via mail, fax, or email to the state elections office.
