The news arrives during a week of varied commercial activity across the region. In Doylestown, demolition work is underway on Easton Road. Crews are dismantling the former 1776 Shopping Center, a 13,000-square-foot structure located at the intersection of Route 611 and Edison Road. Local businessman Jim Lonergan is overseeing the transformation of the site. The vacant building previously allowed the Doylestown Fire Company to use the space for practice drills. The demolition will clear the way for a new Captain Clean express car wash.
In Newtown, Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar is launching a community partnership for November. The restaurant is joining forces with the New Britain Food Pantry. Under the restaurant's Give. Love. Serve. initiative, the establishment will provide five nights of chef-prepared dinners. The meals are intended for local families facing food insecurity or financial hardship. This program extends the restaurant's farm-to-table approach beyond its dining room.
