The Washington Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday night in Landover, Maryland, ending Philadelphia’s six-game losing streak and claiming its first victory in more than a month.

The Commanders scored 27 consecutive points after a disorganized start. They led 10-0 in the first quarter but pulled away to win by a final margin of 17 points. Washington’s defense held the Eagles to 268 total yards and committed no turnovers in the final three-plus quarters.

Jayden Daniels passed for 217 yards and one touchdown for the Commanders. He connected with Stefon Diggs for an 8-yard score in the second quarter that tied the game at 10. Drew Stevens kicked four field goals for Washington, including a 56-yard attempt late in the first quarter. The Commanders sacked Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee five times and intercepted one of his passes.

McKee, starting for the injured Jalen Hurts, passed for 212 yards without a touchdown. The Eagles’ longest drive before the final possession was 52 yards. Saquon Barkley ran for a 3-yard touchdown in the first quarter but finished with 30 yards on 13 carries. Philadelphia totaled 91 yards on the ground.

Coach Dan Quinn said the team needed a minute to warm up after the bye week. "When you come off of a bye, you either rev right up or you need a minute to warm up, and we took a minute," Quinn said. Cornerback Trey Amos noted that the defense made adjustments after a slow start. "We just made adjustments," Amos said. "Everybody came together to try and figure out a plan. It worked out, later down the line, series, quarters."

The Commanders finished the regular season opener with a 2-4-1 record. They remain two games behind the New York Giants in the NFC East. The Eagles sit in last place in the division. Coach Nick Sirianni said the team must fix its performance to change the mood for the remaining six games. "Obviously, it sucks," Sirianni said.

Eagles safety Michael Carter suffered an abdominal injury. Commanders running back Jeremy McNichols left with a left foot injury. The Eagles will host the Giants on Sunday. The Commanders will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
