The Michigan Wolverines aim to extend their winning streak against the Michigan State Spartans to five games when the two teams meet at Michigan Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 7. The kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Peacock, a prime-time slot that underscores the high stakes of the annual battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy.
Michigan enters the matchup after securing a 28-21 road victory over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Oct. 31 at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. The win on Halloween night allowed the Wolverines to close out their road trip before turning their focus to the in-state rivalry.
The current form of the Wolverines reflects a four-game winning streak against the Spartans. In the 2025 meeting, Michigan defeated Michigan State 31-20 in East Lansing. A victory in Ann Arbor would mark the first time since the 2002-07 period that the Wolverines have won five consecutive games in this rivalry.
The historical balance of power favors the Wolverines in both the all-time series and the trophy contest. Through 118 meetings, Michigan leads the all-time series 75-38-5. In the 73 matchups specifically contested for the Paul Bunyan Trophy, Michigan holds a 42-29-2 advantage.
Michigan players indicated after the Rutgers game that they would take time to celebrate before shifting their attention to the Spartans. The team will now prepare to host its in-state rivals, looking to maintain its recent dominance on its own field.
The Spartans enter the contest seeking to break the recent trend and reclaim the trophy from their rivals. The matchup represents the culmination of rivalry week, with the Paul Bunyan Trophy as the central prize.
