Viewers of the Apple TV series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters may see a different creative team and new creatures in the third season. The network and Legendary Television are currently in talks to renew the show, but the discussions include hiring a new showrunner and new writers. According to a person with knowledge of the situation, the third season will also feature new Titans from the Monsterverse franchise. It is not yet known whether characters from the first two seasons will return.
Multiple individuals have been approached to potentially take over the showrunning duties. The series originally premiered on Apple TV in 2023. A second season began airing in February 2026. Chris Black and Matt Fraction created the show. Black served as showrunner and executive producer for the second season.
The production team includes Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures, who serve as executive producers. Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Lawrence Trilling, and Andrew Colville also executive produced the second season. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita represent Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character, in the executive producer role.
A separate spinoff series is still in development. That project will star Wyatt Russell as Col. Lee Shaw. The narrative follows Shaw on a mission in 1984 to stop the Soviets from unleashing a destructive new Titan. Joby Harold will serve as showrunner on this spinoff. He is also developing multiple other series within the Monsterverse.
The cast for the spinoff includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen, and Stana Katic. No release dates have been announced for either the third season of Monarch or the new spinoff series.
