Los Angeles residents face a 100% probability of precipitation during the upcoming Halloween weekend, according to NBC4 Meteorologist Shanna Mendiola. This marks the first time since 2014 that the city has recorded rain on the holiday.

The storm system is currently targeting the Southern California region. Mendiola noted that after recent high tides, the weather pattern is shifting to include clouds and showers. She stated that residents could see light precipitation as early as Friday, with the primary rain band arriving later in the weekend.

Forecast models currently disagree on the exact timing of the downpour. The European Model predicts light showers on Friday, followed by the main rain band arriving from Saturday night into Sunday. Conversely, the American Model suggests the rain will not arrive until Sunday.

Mendiola explained that the two major meteorological systems often converge as the event approaches. She assured viewers that while the precise hour is still fluid, rain is certain to fall this weekend. "But I can tell you for sure we're going to have some rain this weekend," she said.

Temperatures across the Southland are expected to drop through the weekend. The arrival of the clouds will replace the recent coastal fog patterns with active precipitation. Forecasters will continue to monitor the ECMWF and GFS models to refine the arrival window as the data updates.
