President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed thousands of visitors to the South Lawn on Thursday. The pair hosted the White House annual Halloween celebration on October 29, 2026. The event lasted four hours.
The president and first lady distributed commemorative candies to specific groups. These recipients included children of military members and law enforcement officers. They also gave treats to foster and adoptive parents as well as administration staff.
The gathering began with an Air Force One flyover. The U.S. Air Force Strolling Strings played seasonal music and modern hits during the opening segment. This performance marked the start of the four-hour program.
Young attendees visited interactive stations operated by federal agencies while waiting for their turn. The U.S. Postal Service provided toy mail trucks and a postcard station. That station promoted the first lady's BE BEST campaign. The initiative focuses on youth well-being, online safety, and families affected by opioid abuse.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture displayed a giant pumpkin photo backdrop. The department handed out mini pumpkins sourced from domestic farmers. The U.S. Department of the Treasury distributed educational coloring books about financial programs.
Other organizations contributed to the event. The Center of Science and Industry offered STEAM science kits. The International Fresh Produce Association and National Confectioners Association provided fresh apples and sweet treats to the crowd.
